Starting October, 2019 Panevėžys "Vyturys" progymnasium implements another Erasmus+ project “Social Activities are Necessary for Special Education Needs” (SAN for SEN) no. 2019-1-TR01-KA229-074561_3.

The SAN for SEN project aims to empower and engage students with special educational needs in social activities. The first visit of the project was organized by the project coordinators - HALIT NARIN M. T. A. L. and BELDIBI SITKI ZAKARALI I.O schools in Marmaris, Turkey. Vyturys Progymnasium was represented on the first visit by Inga Navickienė, Head of the School Support Department, and Rasa Kuprytė, a psychologist.

During the visit - February 24-28. we visited several schools - we observed the work of colleagues in primary, secondary and vocational schools. We got acquainted with the Turkish education system, a system for providing assistance to children with special educational needs.

Rasa and Inga BELDIBI SITKI ZAKARALI I.O led a session for 3rd school students using the Forum Theater method on conflict resolution. Half of the children who participated in the activity had various disabilities and special educational needs. When planning the session, we feared that cultural and linguistic barriers might hinder it, but we were impressed with the children’s sincerity, openness, and the ability of the children to communicate, communicate and actively participate.

During the meeting, the sessions were also led by partners from schools in other countries. Colleagues from Portugal organized the painting on ceramic tiles. It’s a pretty challenging but exciting activity.

Specialists from Greece organized a creative drama session during which children learned to recognize, name and talk about feelings.

We watched and admired a painting lesson organized by colleagues from Estonia - casting colors and drawing fantastic cats.

We are glad that official meetings, discussions and conversations have been replaced by practical activities for children. The kindness of the children and the help of each other surprised and fascinated me.

We look forward to our second visit to our school in May. at the end. Pupils of Panevėžys Vyturys Progymnasium will have the opportunity to experience, survive, learn by participating in classes led by colleagues from partner countries. The SAN for SEN project further encourages us to move towards inclusive education.
